Questions About Buying 

    Does ALG ever buy or sell replicas?


No. ALG only purchases and sells only authentic luxury items.

   If I purchase an item, what kind of condition will it be in?

In most instances, the items you purchase from ALG will be in lightly used or like-new condition. In other words, they will show only minimal signs of wear. Exceptions to this can occur with certain vintage items. If the item being sold shows greater signs of wear, this is made clear in the item’s description, and can be seen in the photographs provided.

   Are your items guaranteed? What is your return policy?


ALG offers a14-day return policy and authenticity guarantee with every luxury product bought from our store. If you are not 100% satisfied with your ALG purchase, we are happy to provide you with either a full cash refund or store credit (whichever you prefer), not including shipping costs.    What is the Security Tag?

Every item we sell is shipped with a custom-made security tag fastened to it. This tag cannot be removed without scissors. You may not return an item for a refund if this tag has been removed. Once you are sure that you are entirely satisfied with your item and will not be returning it, you may remove this tag and it will not harm your item. For more on returns, visit our Easy Return page (link  to Easy Return page). This is a specially fastened plastic tag that ALG security tag still attached. Please do not remove this security tag with scissors until you are certain that you are fully satisfied with your purchase. You cannot re-attach this tag later.

   Can I place an item on layaway?

   Are prices negotiable?

Yes. You may submit an offer on any item on the website by using the Make An Offer feature. Just enter the amount that you would like to offer in the designated field. We will review your offer and respond in one of the following manners within 3 business days:  1. Accept Your Offer. 2. Make Counter Offer. 3. Decline Your Offer… Due to the large volume of offers we receive each day, if you do not hear back from us it means we were not able to accept your offer.  IMPORTANT:  Please note that if even if we accept your offer, the item is still available for sale to another buyer until you pay for the item.

   What methods of payment do you accept?

   Do I have to pay sales tax?

We are required by law to collect sales tax on orders shipped within California.

What kinds of products do you look for?

We are looking for high-brand designer handbags and accessories; high-end designer jewelry and watches; fine antique period jewelry; signed estate jewelry; large diamond engagement rings; large estate diamonds and fancy color diamonds; GIA certified diamonds over 1 carat.

   Which designer brands do you buy?

ALG deals only in the best luxury brands sought-after by fashion lovers around the globe. We buy, sell, and consign handbags by Hermes, Chanel, and  Louis Vuitton. In the area of contemporary designer jewelry and watches, we look for timepieces by Patek Philippe, diamond rings by Harry Winston, and fine jewelry by Van Cleef & Arpels. Other jewelry and watch brands include Cartier, Tiffany & Co., Bulgari, Chopard, Vacheron, Rolex, Piaget and more.

   Do you buy non-brand name jewelry and watches?

We do not buy non-brand name watches. However, we do buy certain non-brand name jewelry, if it is of high value. Such items might include important jewelry pieces set with fine color gemstones and/or diamonds. We are also interested in antique diamond jewelry, large antique diamonds, and any pre-owned jewelry containing large diamonds.

   What about diamond engagement rings? 

Yes. We buy, sell, and consign large and/or high-grade diamond engagement rings. We are always looking for diamond engagement rings from prestige brands like Tiffany & Co., Cartier, and Harry Winston. For non-brand diamond engagement rings, we look for GIA certified diamonds and/or diamonds over 2 carats, however we will consider any diamond that is of high value, and are especially interested in large Old European Cut diamonds.

   Do You Accept Shoes, Belts, Sunglasses, and Clothes?

While we do accept certain high-end designer brand name items from these categories, we are very selective in what we take in. 

   How do you determine the price to offer me for my item if I choose to sell instead of consign?


We use the same criteria for determining the market value of your item, but typically you can expect to receive between 15% to 45% of the original retail list price.

   How soon do I get paid?

When you sell an item to us, we will mail you a check within 3 business days. When you consign an item with us, we mail you a check within 17 business days after the item sells (to cover our 14-day return policy).

 

Questions About Consignment

    How do you determine what price to sell my consignment item at?


We evaluate the condition, original retail price, current pre-owned selling price, and current market demand for your item. Other factors may include rarity, as well as what is included with your item, such as original receipt, packaging, booklet, extra parts, and certificate of authenticity. We then evaluate all of this information to establish a price that will give your item the best chance of selling for the most amount of money, on the worldwide market, within a reasonable amount of time.

   Will my consignment item be listed on ALG website, eBay and other online auctions and stores?

Due to the costs involved with photographing and writing descriptions, only consignment items that are estimated to sell for more than $800 will be listed on multiple online selling channels. Items under $800 may only be made available for sale at our San Diego bricks-and-mortar boutique.

 How soon do I get paid?

Questions About Shipping

   When shopping, what are the shipping costs and how long is the wait?

   Do you ship items to international destinations?

Yes, we do! For rates, click here.

   On international orders, who is responsible for Customs Fees and Taxes?

The buyer of the item is responsible for any Duties, Taxes and Fees as determined by their local government.

   Can I request different information for Customs purposes?

As much as we’d love to help our international customers save money on fees and taxes, we cannot lie on customs forms. We indicate everything as “used items” on the customs forms and write in the value that you actually paid (not including shipping fee). It is also required that we include the invoice with the item to avoid having the package held at Customs and/or returned.

   Do you combine shipping?

Yes. We are happy to save you money by combining shipping for multiple items.

   Can I pick my item up in person?

Yes. All items are may be picked up in person at our San Diego, California boutique. You can find the address at the bottom of this page.

   Do I pay for shipping when I consign or all an item to you?

For your convenience, ALG provides you with a pre-paid UPS shipping label.  You may also ship your item to us at your own expense, or deliver it to our boutique in person. For complete shipping information click here.

   How do I register for this site? 

Click on the login link located on the top left hand corner of the homepage. After you have reached the login screen select the button "sign up" and fill out the required information. Once you have submitted the required information you will be sent a confirmation email, click the link in the confirmation email and you will be registered for the site.

   What if I don't receive the confirmation email? 

The confirmation email may take up to a few minutes to arrive in your inbox, please wait a few minutes and check your inbox again. Please make sure to check your spam folder in case your inbox setting have filtered our email. 

   I still can't register.

Joy & Carl Blackburn are the owners of Authentic Luxury Goods.  Carl is an internationally recognized jewelry designer and estate jeweler, with 25 years experience. Joy is CEO and head buyer of ALG. Joy’s background includes an MBA from Sasin University, a partner with the Kellogg School of Management and Wharton School of Finance; and gemological training at the Gemological Institute of America.
